Natalie Sprowl, one of Reily’s newest instructors, has been giving Joe a run for his money. The Tulane sophomore is super relatable, and creates a totally judgment-free environment in her classes. Her bootcamp and TRX features a full-body strength, endurance and cardio workout that targets classic problem areas and will keep you moving and energized for the entire hour.
What makes this boot camp so special?
You’re probably thinking, “I’ve been to boot camp before and didn’t like it. Why try this one?” Well, Natalie's class is not your average boot camp. She mixes up the workout each class, so you won’t find yourself bored doing the same push-up series three weeks in a row. Some weeks are circuit style, and others might be group style. Another great aspect is that anyone can do it. Natalie gives the option to intensify or modify your workouts depending on your fitness level, so first timers, have no fear!
Why is it effective?
The class is designed as a HIIT series, so it’s based off of intervals. Natalie explains that these workouts are very effective in boosting your metabolism and burning fat because “your body must work harder to bring your heart rate back up after slowing it down, making your metabolism spike.” By alternating between strength and cardio, she achieves a full-body HIIT design that keeps you sweating for the whole class.
What should I bring?
Get ready to get very sweaty. You should definitely wear breathable fabrics so that you don’t overheat during your cardio intervals. I've also found that because there is so much versatility in the types of exercises you’ll do, wearing tighter clothes that won’t flop around during various moves will be less distracting and more comfortable (i.e., mountain climbers in a loose top…) Wear your favorite sneakers and a ponytail, and of course bring a water bottle—you’ll need it.
