How To Sweat Like a Marine

As I’m sure many of my fellow Commodores didn’t know, we recently had Marine Week here in Nashville. For one of my classes I had to attend a Marine Week event and just as luck would have it, one of the options was an early morning Marine Workout. I decided to give it a try and set my alarm for the ungodly time of 6:15 for the 7 a.m. class the next morning.

Sweat Spotlight: Chase Tucker

If you're a regular on the Nashville Barry's Bootcamp circuit, there is no doubt that you've heard of Chase. His 7:15 and 8:30 classes throughout the week are always packed with Vanderbilt students, as his enthusiasm and bumpin’ playlists (and abs...) are sure to make you want to get out of bed. A morning with Chase is a great way to start your day and will leave you feeling the perfect amount of sore the next day. Don't Binge and Drive

A few weeks ago, I headed on my long awaited Spring Break road trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama. First stop: Nashville, Tennessee. I personally had another concern: what the f*ck was I going to eat? For anyone else who feels conflicted between fighting cravings for that bathing suit bod and diving back into the delicious taste of salty Lay's potato chips and chocolate covered anything...here is a guide for staying strong. Or at least sane...

Going Green

Up until last year, when I heard the word “vegetarian” I would picture hippies with nose rings and dreads eating rubbery tofu and beans. No joke. I would never think that going to college in Nashville (of all places) would turn me into a lover of all things veggie. Seriously. I haven’t met a vegetable that I don’t love. Much of my obsession is due to a select few vegetarian/vegan restaurants. For those of you who don’t know about these amazing spots, lettuce introduce you.

Turn Up for the Turnip Truck

I’m from Texas, the proud home of Whole Foods and Central Market (otherwise known as the best grocery stores you will ever experience). I love wandering down the aisles of these super stores and discovering new and exciting healthy foods. What I sadly realized in Nashville is that there aren’t any mother ships available to satisfy my grocery shopping cravings. While the Whole Foods in Green Hills is definitely essential for any healthy foodie, its size and product availability pales in comparison to what I’m used to. I guess everything really is bigger in Texas.

However, let me introduce you to my latest find: The Turnip Truck, a locally owned natural food grocer with locations in both East Nashville and the Gulch.
